Position Overview:
Leidos is on the lookout for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to lead a dedicated team of systems administrators. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient management of high-performance computing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
1. Performing essential system administration tasks to guarantee the seamless operation of multi-user computing environments, including Linux-based application servers, virtual machines, and GPU clusters.
2. Collaborating with network administration teams to ensure integrated system functionality.
3. Establishing and managing administrator and service accounts, maintaining comprehensive system documentation, optimizing system performance, and overseeing software installations.
4. Allocating storage resources and developing policies for the effective use of computing assets.
5. Participating in the installation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of HPC systems and software, while assisting in resource forecasting.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for formal education).
- DoD 8570 certification, including Security+ and an OS certification such as Linux+ or RedHat (a 90-day waiver may be available for obtaining the OS certification).
- A willingness to work outside regular hours and respond to urgent situations as needed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems, coupled with hands-on systems administration experience.

Preferred Skills:
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Experience in compiling, installing, and porting software.
- An understanding of application scaling challenges related to problem-solving and algorithm selection.
- Familiarity with storage architectures, including SAN, SAS, FC, and SATA, as well as performance considerations.

Additional Competencies:
- Ability to create and maintain documentation for system administration processes.
- Proficiency in developing Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation.
- Experience with multi-factor authentication solutions and identity management technologies such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
- Knowledge of security implementations, including PKI and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
- Programming or troubleshooting experience with Python, as well as familiarity with Apache Web Server, Zabbix, Red Hat Satellite, and Ansible.

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is between $108,000 and $196,225. This range serves as a general guideline and does not guarantee compensation, as various factors will be considered in extending an offer.
