About the Job

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Police Records Clerk II to join our team at Vets Hired. As a key member of our law enforcement support staff, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, processing reports, and providing exceptional customer service to the public and other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and maintain police records, reports, and data with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and other agencies, responding to requests for information and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with the processing of statements, reports, letters, citations, subpoenas, petitions, civil and criminal complaints, and other materials.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including job-related computer hardware and software applications, facsimile equipment, multi-line telephones, and other department-specific equipment.
  • Compile and input police statistics, checking output for accuracy.
  • Send and receive electronic messages with State and Federal Departments of Justice.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two (2) years performing duties similar to a Police Records Clerk I in the City of Hayward.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment and current software.
  • Ability to grasp and perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to prepare documents and data using a computer keyboard and mouse/trackball, laptop, and/or tablet.
  • Ability to converse by telephone, by email, in person, and before small and large groups, and be clearly understood.
  • Ability to read and comprehend legal, technical, and complex documents.
  • Ability to interact with the public and all different levels of City staff in an effective and professional manner.
