Job Summary:

BayMark Health Services is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in assisting patients through medically assisted programs and providing techniques for handling opioid addiction. You will conduct group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, you will evaluate patients' progress during therapy and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists for patients' therapy and treatment for the best overall outcome.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual initial assessments and evaluations to determine service eligibility.
  • Facilitate, establish, and review treatment plans with each patient.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services, direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals, and coordinate all services throughout treatment.
  • Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
  • Involve families and significant others in patients' recovery processes whenever possible.
  • Develop and participate in individual or group patient teaching projects.
  • Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed.
  • Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans, completing all discharge paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum HS Diploma, Associates, or Bachelors or Masters in a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals a plus.
  • LADC, LCMHC, LICSW, MLADC highly desirable.
  • Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
