Job Overview

Position Summary

The Senior Advisor for Financial Control Systems collaborates with organizational leaders and stakeholders to deliver specialized knowledge in financial risk management and control frameworks. This position is vital for maintaining an effective and efficient internal control structure. The advisor will provide insights aimed at improving processes and reinforcing control execution. Furthermore, they will be instrumental in preparing departments for both internal and external audits.

The Senior Advisor will report to a Manager or Director within the Financial Controls division and will work closely with designated functional teams to foster trust and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess financial reporting vulnerabilities and implement suitable controls
  • Guide functional teams on the design and execution of controls
  • Educate process owners on the significance of internal controls
  • Assist in documenting controls and compiling necessary materials for audits
  • Serve as a liaison with internal and external audit teams regarding control matters
  • Establish strong relationships with process owners
  • Promote a culture of risk management within the organization
  • Collaborate on remediation of control deficiencies
  • Advise on the retirement of outdated controls

Qualifications and Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or CIA certification is preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in internal controls auditing
  • Proficient in control design, testing, and implementation
  • Familiarity with SOX and MAR regulations
  • Experience in the insurance sector is advantageous
