Individualized Education Support Assistant

Position Type:
Support Staff/Special Education Assistant

Reports To: Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor

Work Schedule:
7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday

Compensation:
$17.78 starting hourly rate

Incentive:
1:1 Special Education Assistants who remain in their role for the entire academic year will receive a stipend equal to 10% of total hours worked.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a minimum of 48 semester hours of post-secondary education or have successfully completed the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam
  • One to two years of relevant experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
  • Must meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
  • Ability to apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
  • Proficient in effectively engaging with students, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviors
  • Strong communication skills to convey ideas and directives clearly
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic situations
  • Capability to supervise students responsibly
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques to maintain appropriate school discipline
  • Physical strength and ability to assist, lift, or manage students with disabilities
  • Clerical skills, including familiarity with office equipment
  • Previous experience with computers is advantageous
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential
