Job Title: Suicide Intervention Specialist at Heart of Florida United Way

Job Summary
As a Suicide Intervention Specialist at Heart of Florida United Way, you will play a vital role in providing crisis intervention, safety planning, and social service referrals to individuals in need. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while working in a dynamic contact center environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inbound calls and contacts from the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 211 information and referral services.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of contacts' needs and situations using active listening and empathetic communication.
  • Provide screenings for specialized programs and access multiple databases for resources and referrals.
  • Utilize contact center software, computer hardware, and telephone equipment with proficiency.
  • Maintain accurate data collection and record-keeping in the database.
  • Interact with contacts in a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Advocate for clients while adhering to contact center protocols and confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in social services, crisis hotline, or contact center preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with client management databases a plus.
  • Knowledge of health and human services and ability to assess client needs effectively.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced contact center environment and maintain confidentiality.
  • English/Spanish bilingualism a plus.
