Job Description

We're seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team and contribute to the development of our innovative food products.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute assays for protein quantification and analyze results independently.
  • Assist in the development of protein quantification assays under the supervision of our analytical lead.
  • Troubleshoot analytical equipment, focusing on HPLC, under the guidance of our analytical lead.
  • Conduct additional analytical characterization, including polysaccharide analysis.
  • Support research projects by collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to the team.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to the development of new methods and techniques.
Requirements:
  • Experience recording data and performing calculations in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask, with a strong interest in biotechnology lab operations and methods.
  • Relevant academic or industry laboratory experience is highly desirable.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including pipetting, solution preparation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science or Biomed Engineering degree.
  • Experience with various purification methods, such as ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction/HIC, size exclusion, and affinity chromatography.
  • Familiarity with protein purification techniques and characterizing protein expression (quantification) and function using various techniques and tools.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis tools, such as JMP and R.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and complete work above shoulder level, hand dexterity to file paperwork or parts.
  • Must have correctable vision to perform duties of the job.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment.
  • Position may require repetitive motion for certain tasks.
