Position Overview:

The Night Monitor is responsible for delivering essential care and non-technical services to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the night shift. This role plays a critical part in minimizing healthcare errors and adhering to facility protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

1. Establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients and colleagues.

2. Monitor for common side effects and potential interactions of prescribed medications.

3. Intervene to prevent any harmful or aggressive behavior from clients.

4. Ensure compliance with facility guidelines.

5. Conduct regular rounds of the premises, including client living areas and administrative offices.

6. Accurately document client activities in the communication log during the shift.

7. Measure and record client blood pressure.

8. Engage in the Quality Management process.

9. Perform additional tasks as directed by the Operations Manager.

Daily/Weekly Duties:

1. Observe and report on client activities throughout the night.

2. Utilize effective behavior management techniques to ensure a safe environment.

3. Monitor client adherence to facility guidelines during off-campus activities.

4. Document observations and any infractions in the communication log.

5. Manage the receipt and distribution of client medications.

6. Supervise self-administration of medications by clients.

7. Identify and respond to side effects or adverse reactions to medications.

8. Notify the Operations Assistant of any medication-related concerns.

9. Report medication errors to the Operations Manager.

10. Conduct nightly inventory of medications.

11. Collect urine samples for testing as required.

12. Document all incoming and outgoing mail.

13. Oversee the distribution of client mail.

14. Ensure the preparation of nightly meals meets safety standards.

15. Maintain cleanliness and safety in living quarters and facilities.

16. Conduct security checks of the premises.

17. Ensure all unattended areas are secured and locked.

18. Report any unusual activities or safety concerns to the Operations Manager.

19. Assist with client appointments and transportation logistics.

20. Provide transportation for clients to scheduled meetings and outings.

21. Follow the established cleaning schedule for the office.

22. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager or Tech Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

This role involves traveling by automobile and may expose the employee to varying weather conditions. The employee may encounter health risks from clients and may face challenging situations involving psychiatric clients. The noise level is typically moderate.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.

3. Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is preferred.

4. CPR certification is preferred.

5. Flexibility to work a night shift schedule (10 pm - 8 am).

6. Understanding of substance abuse treatment principles.

7. Familiarity with the 12-Step philosophy and its applications.

8. Competence in reading, writing, and grammar.
