Custodian Responsibilities
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain cleanliness throughout the building, focusing on high-traffic areas such as bathrooms, the sanctuary, preschool, kitchens, and meeting rooms.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance team members and staff to ensure all areas are properly cleaned and stocked.
  • Efficient Services: Work independently or as part of a team to deliver thorough and efficient custodial services to the synagogue.
  • Outdoor Maintenance: Assist with minor outdoor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate power tools, including snow blowers, drills, sanders, and other equipment in the workshop.
  • Safety Procedures: Follow safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe chemical handling.
  • Event Support: Assist with event setup and cleanup as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and submit requests for replenishment when necessary.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Interact with staff, members, and visitors respectfully and positively.
Requirements
  • Pay: $16/hr
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Entry-level with a general understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Background Check: Required
  • Schedule: 10-15 hours per weekend (Friday: 4 hours, Saturday: 4 hours, Sunday: 4 hours)
  • Flexibility: Flexibility is required to accommodate different events and needs during the weekend. A minimum of 10 hours per weekend is expected, with a maximum of 15 hours.
