About the Role:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, understanding the clinical significance of results, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts all clinical testing within the assigned department.
- Accurately records and reports test results in a timely manner.
- Performs and interprets quality control testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintains rigorous quality assurance standards.
- Adheres to safety protocols, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
- Identifies problems using prescribed strategies and implements necessary corrections.
- Consults with supervisors when criteria for decisions are not established; takes initiative in their absence.
- Coordinates and assesses new reagents, procedures, and equipment as directed by supervisors.
- Conducts routine maintenance and specialized servicing of laboratory equipment.
Schedule: 4, 10-hour shifts with one weekend per month.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent; eligibility for certification is required.
- Active certification must be maintained if applicable.
- Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
