About the Role

The University of South Carolina seeks a distinguished researcher to fill the Cancer Health Disparities Smart State Endowed Chair position. This prestigious role is part of a state-wide initiative to integrate research activities and promote economic development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead research in cancer health disparities and build collaborations across USC's Schools of Medicine, Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Social Work.
  • Develop and manage a research team to support cancer health disparities research.
  • Establish partnerships with clinical researchers within Prisma Health to access research data.
  • Hold an appointment within the USCSOMG Department of Biomedical Sciences and be affiliated with the Cancer Health Disparities Research Initiative.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or M.D. degree in cancer biology, epidemiology, health services research, or a closely related field.
  • Established record of extramural funding and high-impact publications in cancer health disparities research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary research collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring medical students, resident fellows, doctoral and post-doctoral students.
  • Commitment to promoting health equity and addressing health disparities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional experience in teaching and mentoring.
  • Additional expertise in interdisciplinary research collaboration.
What We Offer

The University of South Carolina offers a competitive salary range of $230,000 - $300,000 and a comprehensive benefits package.
