At Lucid Motors, we are committed to redefining the luxury electric vehicle experience, pushing the boundaries of performance, design, and technology.

Your Role:

We are in search of experienced Battery Modeling Engineers at senior levels or above, who will be responsible for developing advanced Multiphysics models to accurately predict the thermal and electrochemical behavior of lithium-ion batteries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive Multiphysics models of lithium-ion batteries, focusing on extreme operating conditions influenced by cell structure and electrochemistry.
  • Create multi-dimensional battery models to forecast cell performance, including heat flux, electrochemical responses, and safety metrics.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance cell design through predictive modeling.
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings for team insights.
  • Engage with the intellectual property team to protect your innovative contributions.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree with over 5 years of relevant industry experience or a PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial lithium-ion cell structures and their electrochemical and thermal dynamics.
  • Experience in developing multi-dimensional structures and running CFD models for thermal and electrochemical systems.
  • Familiarity with battery testing protocols and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CFD modeling software, such as Ansys Fluent, beyond COMSOL.
  • Background in mechanical modeling of cylindrical or prismatic battery cells.
  • Experience in thermal testing of battery cells, modules, or packs.
  • Knowledge of thermal runaway and propagation simulations.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C, or MATLAB.

Education:

  • PhD, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
