Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Inpatient Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Duke Health. As a key member of our clinical laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various routine and specialized procedures to ensure accurate and timely specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process medical specimens from patients in a hospital setting.
  • Prepare and conduct special tests and procedures as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, medical personnel, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless specimen processing.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment and maintain patient identification to ensure accurate results.
  • Participate in quality control and safety procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist with laboratory maintenance and office tasks as needed.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in Phlebotomy is highly recommended, and Basic Life Support certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Phlebotomy and specimen processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
  • Computer proficiency and effective communication skills.
