Inpatient Phlebotomy Specialist

Job SummaryThe Clinical Laboratory Technician will ensure the proper collection of blood specimens for established procedures and protocols. This role requires effective communication skills, basic phlebotomy and specimen processing techniques, and knowledge of medical terms.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized procedures, including phlebotomy and specimen management.
- Prepare and initiate special tests and procedures, such as cytogenetics and Point-of-Care Testing.
- Communicate with patients, family, and medical personnel to resolve problems and escalate issues as necessary.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, register patients/specimens, and perform order entry.
- Participate in quality control, safety, and infection control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation (recommended).
- One year of previous clinical lab experience (preferred).
- Certification as a Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized agency/board (recommended).
