Job Summary

The Kennel Assistant provides daily care, feeding, and exercise of boarding and hospitalized animals. This role requires attention to detail, compassion, and effective communication with clients.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of Mission Veterinary Partners.
  • Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
  • Check-in animals for boarding, interact with owners, and record all information on boarding forms.
  • Feed and water animals according to schedules, administer medications, and provide flea and tick control.
  • Record medication instructions, monitor animal health, and report any abnormalities to doctors and technicians.
  • Supervise animals in the yard, perform TLC play times or walks, and clean and disinfect cages, runs, and yard as needed.
  • Wear personal protective equipment and maintain it in good working order.
  • Check out animals for boarding, review boarding report cards with clients, and provide baths to animals that qualify.
Qualifications
  • Confidence around animals and pets.
  • Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
  • Knowledge of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
  • Reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability to perform duties proficiently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 16 years of age or older.
