Position Overview:

FlexStaff is currently in search of a dedicated full-time Temporary Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at a specialized Inpatient and Detox Center. The LPN will play a crucial role in providing direct nursing care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications in accordance with established Safe Nursing Practice standards and physician directives.
  • Accurately complete and document individual patient progress notes, including Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) scores, Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) scores, and vital signs.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to medication administration and storage.
  • Document patient activities such as admissions, discharges, transfers, and emergency room visits in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Monitor and record patient detoxification progress and behavioral responses.
  • Maintain thorough records of all treatment interventions and patient reactions in medical documentation.
  • Provide education to patients regarding their medications and document their understanding, compliance, and responses.
  • Communicate any changes in patient treatment plans to all relevant healthcare disciplines.
  • Conduct daily checks of emergency equipment, including the Emergency Drug Box and Oxygen Tank.
  • Perform inventory assessments of medications, supplies, equipment, and stationery for the unit.
  • Prepare the unit's dietary order form each evening for the Overnight RN Supervisor.
  • Document any nursing incidents that occur during shifts.
  • Adhere to established dress code standards.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an NLN accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Current and valid New York State Education Department LPN Registration.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Substance Abuse or Psychiatry is preferred.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $68,250 annually.
