As a key member of the executive team, the Senior Director of Credit Risk Oversight will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is pivotal in steering the strategic direction, governance, and management of the company's credit risk evaluation and compliance related to lending operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead a proactive and risk-oriented approach to the team's audits and evaluations of the loan portfolio.
2. Collaborate in the formulation and endorsement of loan objectives, policies, and practices.
3. Develop comprehensive credit risk assessments that inform the credit risk review strategy, utilizing various models for loss forecasting, portfolio stress testing, and market analysis.
4. Provide insights into performance variances and anticipated credit trends, ensuring timely communication of any shifts in trends to Senior Management.
5. Evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk processes and standards, advocating for best practices and identifying areas for enhancement.
6. Advise the Board of Directors and Executives on recommended adjustments to policies and practices.
7. Oversee the management of current expected credit losses (CECL) to accurately estimate allowances for credit losses on overdue loans.
8. Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and cooperation.
9. Assist in legal matters concerning compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
10. Analyze various regulatory initiatives and their impacts on business processes, presenting actionable recommendations.
11. Provide expert guidance to loan officers on credit analysis, financial evaluations, and collections.
12. Ensure proper dissemination of loan policies and procedures, addressing any deviations.
Qualifications:
- 10-12 years of experience in loan review, portfolio management, and quality control within a financial institution.
- Proven analytical and forecasting capabilities, with a solid understanding of audit and compliance regulations.
- 8+ years of leadership experience in executing a credit risk program that identifies and enhances policies and controls.
- Expertise in structuring complex commercial, industrial, real estate, and construction loans.
- Familiarity with residential and land development lending processes.
- Preferred experience in conducting regulatory examinations.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Word; capable of performing complex calculations and following detailed instructions.
- Willingness to travel for work-related activities.
- Ability to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
- Physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs in an office environment.
- Bilingual candidates in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.
