Key Responsibilities- Operational Support: Assist the Manager in supervising daily operations within surgical services, including the Operating Room, Surgical Procedure Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Endoscopy.
- Personnel Oversight: Oversee staff management, ensuring safe and cost-efficient patient care while promoting effective collaboration across departments.
- Project Management: Undertake specific project tasks as delegated by the Manager of Surgical Services.
- Unit Management: Work alongside the Manager to assess, evaluate, and implement improvements in cost structures. Plan resource allocation and staffing, maintain a staffing matrix, and foster strong relationships with physicians to achieve financial objectives.
- Staff Management: Participate in recruitment and hiring processes, provide leadership, conduct performance reviews, address disciplinary matters, and manage staffing schedules. Facilitate staff meetings and assist in leadership initiatives.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and revise unit policies and procedures, monitor compliance, supervise patient care delivery, and establish departmental goals. Address inter-departmental challenges and serve as a specialized resource.
- Regulatory Standards: Prepare for local and inter-regional surveys, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Training and Development: Create orientation programs for new hires, coordinate in-service training for surgical services, collaborate with educators on competency plans, and oversee training on new equipment or procedures.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, Cardiovascular Lab, or Gastrointestinal.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid Registered Nurse License (state-specific), Basic Life Support certification.
- Five years of clinical experience in Surgical Services.
- Previous leadership experience.
- CNOR certification.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
- Monday to Friday with rotating weekend on-call responsibilities.
- Preferred background in Operating Room clinical settings.
