Job Title: Public Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Nurse will provide direct nursing care to patients, administer medications, and perform various clinical duties. You will also participate in health fairs, educational programs, and other community outreach activities. Additionally, you will use computer technology to collect, store, and retrieve data, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications and performing clinical duties.
  • Participate in health fairs, educational programs, and other community outreach activities.
  • Use computer technology to collect, store, and retrieve data.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Perform TB screenings and administer PPD skin tests.
  • Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
Requirements:
  • Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college.
  • Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • CPR certification.
  • Two years of LPN public health experience (for Level 2) or four years of LPN public health experience (for Level 3).
