Strategic Venture Solutions Manager

Towards the Second Founding of Honda, the Venture Solutions Manager is a leadership role in the pursuit of true New Business. This requires not only conventional human-capital leadership, but also thought leadership within the company as a whole, while operating as a technical expert for the methods of new business testing and validation as well as business model execution. This position leads an internal team to create new, external business concepts from concept to launch, generating new profits for the company as well as synergies for other existing businesses. This role also promotes the concepts of rigorous new business development methods within the company and supports other Business Units to expand the adoption of these concepts.
The successful execution of this role will create profitable new ventures for the company by maintaining a dynamic, high-skill team interacting with a tapestry of tools and vendors which create an environment rich with opportunity for new value creation. Integral to this success is maintaining a culture of curiosity and flexibility in the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Technical Leadership of Venture Solutions Dept. and New Business Innovation Unit:
- Develop and execute Ideation activities internally and externally
- Act as the Technical Expert to guide new business development and testing, review and judge group output for accuracy and completeness
- Lead continuous group PDCAs of methods and tools to refine and optimize overall efficiency and output
- Resource Management:
- Manage the associates to break down daily barriers and provide feedback as well long-term career growth opportunities
- Plan and manage the unit budget, including consolidating budgets for projects in the "launch" phase
- Oversee "launch" phase businesses on the advisory board as required
- New Biz Promotion:
- Actively promote new business concepts within AHM and other Honda companies
- Communicate internally and externally regarding opportunities, learnings, and resources, especially with other AHM New Business initiatives (e.g. consultant businesses)
Who we are seeking:
Required Work Experience:
- 3+ years managing teams
- 5+ years managing complex projects or initiatives
- 5+ years developing business plans, forecasts, models
- 12+ years of relevant experience with new business startup or new business development
- Experience with customer research strongly preferred
- Honda experience and departmental knowledge preferred
Required Education:
- BS/BA in Engineering or Business or MBA
Desired skills:
- Ability to consume and create visual data of markets and consumers
- Ability to synthesize disparate information from multiple sources into trends and opportunities to create clear conclusions and actions
- Predisposition to radical transparency and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of research tools and survey techniques
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain a mindset of curiosity and flexibility to achieve goals
- Strong project management capabilities
- Creative Problem Solving – The ability to recognize a problem or opportunity and then to develop iterative solutions
- Strong ability to collaborate and to lead people to achieve their goals
Working Conditions:
- Remote
- 95% Normal working conditions (WFH and/or Torrance office)
- 5% Travel for conferences, new biz site visits, correlation with other Honda centers

Total Rewards:
- Competitive Base Salary: $129,000 - $193,500
- Pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to, geographic location, work experience, education, etc.
