Job Title: Assistant Teacher

At Peace of Mind-Woodbury, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting our lead teachers in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for our children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist lead teachers in implementing the daily program and preparing the learning environment.
  • Supervise children at all times and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Support with classroom management, including setting up interest centers and preparing materials and supplies.
  • Assist with lesson planning and implementation, including leading classroom lessons and activities as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families, including sharing updates and information through Kindertales.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; 8 semester credits of education or alternative education and experience requirements for state.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications required.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred.
  • At least 2,080 hours of experience as an aide or student intern or alternative education and experience requirements for state.
Working Conditions:

Monday to Friday, according to scheduled shifts and school needs. Occasional weekend paid training and overtime may be required with approval from the Education Director.

No travel required unless covering for a nearby school.

Exposure to heat and cold based on location up to 1 hour/day and occasional exposure to noisy/loud environments.

Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, alternate between standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling, crouching/stooping, respond quickly to sounds, work around small children including lifting and carrying small children up to 40 pounds, move quickly to respond to emergency situations, occasionally reach overhead or below, and alternate between sitting, walking, standing, and speaking.

Must be able to learn, remember, focus, categorize, and integrate information for decision making, problem-solving, and comprehending, learn, memorize, and execute tasks independently, and maintain concentration/focus on tasks.
