The Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in providing comprehensive medical care to individuals and families, with a focus on primary health care and HIV specialty care. This includes managing health problems, promoting optimal health, and providing education and counseling to patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide primary care to patients, making sound clinical judgments based on assessment of physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and environmental needs.
- Prescribe treatment for illnesses within the scope of practice, teaching and counseling individuals and families to assume responsibility for prevention of illness and restoration and maintenance of health.
- Provide HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to persons at risk for HIV infection, as well as primary care and HIV specialty care for patients living with HIV infection/AIDS.
- Perform specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for persons presenting for STI screening and treatment, utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines.
- Diagnose and treat sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, Hepatitis C, and related conditions, discussing HIV/HCV/STI prevention and treatment information with all patients.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Graduate of a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in primary care with an emphasis on STI and HIV.
- Ohio License (NP/PA) and DEA required.
- Experience treating patients living with Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, and HIV/AIDS.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with homeless, LGBT, multicultural, and diverse populations.
