The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the preparation and treatment of patients at Evernorth Health Services. This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients, verifying coverage and eligibility and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Obtain patient history, take vital signs, and assist with coordination of care.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to protocol.
  • Answer phone calls in compliance with departmental procedures, routing calls as necessary and taking accurate messages.
  • Schedule appointments and verify membership according to various benefit coverage.
  • Review preprinted instruction sheets with patients.
  • Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs.
  • Cross-train to new procedures and departments.
  • Assist in orienting new employees and temporary pool staff to job responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • CMA or RMA certification
  • Current BCLS certification
  • At least 1 year of front and back office experience
  • Experience answering phones and scheduling patients
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Solid computer skills, including Electronic Health Records
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Team-oriented
  • Strong time management skills
  • Responsible and reliable
