As a Medical Imaging Specialist in Atrium Health's CT department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and imaging services.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly. You will be responsible for performing imaging procedures using CT scanners and associated equipment, as well as preparing patients for exams and documenting relevant information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient, referring any discrepancies to the Radiologist before performing the exam.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and assist them during procedures, providing a brief explanation of the process.
  • Prepare patients for exams, explaining the procedure and documenting information on relevant worksheets.
  • Interview patients to obtain their medical history, reviewing electronic medical records (EMRs) as needed.
  • Administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols, recording the type and amount used upon request.
  • Evaluate image quality and consult with Radiologists if necessary, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing additional images or measurements as instructed.
  • Perform basic patient care functions, informing nursing staff of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures when necessary.
  • Participate in code blue procedures during medical emergencies, assisting other personnel as required.

Requirements:

  • High School or GED diploma graduate
  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered by the ARRT (R)
  • Advanced registry in CT, ARRT (CT)
  • 2 years' experience required
