About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional to perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of general ultrasound images. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for the care of patients while in the ultrasound department, performing portable US exams based on provider orders and patient conditions.

  • Judge the diagnostic quality of finished medical images, process preliminary reports and/or worksheets prior to submission to physicians for interpretation, and identify/document any limitations to the sonography examination.

You will customize each patient exam based on accepted ultrasound/sonography principles to optimize diagnostic value. Apply independent judgment during sonography examinations to ensure accurate capture of anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions in examination images. Assist radiologists with US guidance for procedures like biopsies or aspirations as needed.

  • Review diagnostic ultrasound requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided, communicating questionable orders to ordering providers and taking unresolved concerns to interpreting physicians for final approval.
  • Provide relevant patient history and/or codes for all ultrasound procedures according to facility requirements.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
  • Offer detailed explanations of diagnostic procedures to patients, answering questions as appropriate.
  • Observe patients while in the ultrasound department, intervening/responding to changes in status and contacting primary caregivers as necessary.
  • Identify/correct problems as appropriate, reporting critical occurrences to next-level authorities.
  • Maintain required continuing education and applicable certifications as an ultrasound technologist.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to assure conformance to specific operational standards, including US equipment and Trophon if applicable.
