This position plays a critical role in maintaining and operating underground utility infrastructure, ensuring a stable supply of essential services to campus facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining the integrity of underground utility systems, including steam and condensate return, chilled water, domestic water, natural gas, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Safely operating valves to isolate or restore utility service to sections of campus.
- Troubleshooting flow or supply issues and executing KY811 underground utility locate marking.
- Supporting capital construction projects and facilitating third-party utility vendor work on campus.
- Performing preventive maintenance activities and repairs on utility piping and systems.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of campus utility systems. This role may require working overtime or participating in a paid on-call rotation as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain underground utility systems, including steam and condensate return, chilled water, domestic water, natural gas, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on utility piping and systems.
- Respond to emergency situations and troubleshoot flow or supply issues.
- Execute KY811 underground utility locate marking and support capital construction projects.
- Facilitate third-party utility vendor work on campus and perform preventive maintenance activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of utility systems and operations preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
