Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Documentation Specialist in the Office of the Registrar at the University of Iowa. This is a temporary position that will play a crucial role in creating a centralized hub for all our digital documentation, ensuring best practices are met, including accessibility standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Documentation Management: Independently conduct research to determine the most suitable platform for hosting digital documentation within Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Centralized Documentation Hub: Develop and maintain a centralized documentation hub for the Office of the Registrar.
  • Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with various teams to identify and migrate relevant content into the new environment, conduct training sessions on documentation processes, and revise and update existing documents to align with current best practices.
  • Accessibility and Terminology: Ensure all documentation adheres to best practices, with a focus on accessibility needs, and collaborate with teams to establish consistent terminology and writing conventions across all documents.
  • Documentation Tracking: Maintain an updated report of where each team's documentation is stored.
Requirements
  • Effective Communication: Ability to effectively communicate complex information involving the simplification and summarization of techniques, demonstrating command of language, and ensuring clarity and orderliness in both written and oral presentations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using Office365 products such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for document management and collaboration, experience utilizing Microsoft Outlook and Zoom, and strong research skills to evaluate platforms for hosting documentation.
  • Independence and Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and kick-start organizational processes.
Work Arrangements
  • This position is eligible for hybrid work in the state of Iowa.
  • The hybrid schedule is eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work within the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
  • This position will be hourly, and compensation is $20/hour. Benefits will not be provided.
  • The position will begin as soon as possible and last through May 31, 2025, with the possibility for renewal.
