Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes a chainsaw for the cutting of brush, logs, and stumps from larger trees, operating from the ground with gasoline-powered equipment.
  • Handles loading and unloading of trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, as well as feeding brush into a wood chipper. Responsible for gathering brush and transporting it to the chipper area.
  • Operates in proximity to hazardous machinery.
  • Endures high noise levels from machinery, chainsaws, and wood chippers, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Works in various weather conditions and environments, facing exposure to nature, including irritating plants and insects.
  • May navigate rough terrain during operations.
  • Assists in enforcing safety protocols on-site for crew members.
  • Ensures the safety of employees and the public in the work area, collaborating with local authorities when necessary. Sets up barriers, warning signs, and flags to safeguard everyone involved.
  • Applies herbicides and growth regulators to manage stumps and brush effectively.
  • Operates a truck equipped with a brush chipper or other towing units.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Responsible for carrying and setting up tools and equipment at the job site.
  • Services trucks, chippers, and equipment, ensuring they are maintained in optimal condition. Reports maintenance needs to the crew leader.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Must be capable of entering and exiting a vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
  • Must possess reading, writing, and comprehension skills for job instructions and information.
  • Effective communication skills to represent Wright Tree Service professionally.
  • Physical capability to lift, move, and handle up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, and be available for call-out work.
  • Proficient in operating and servicing all necessary tools and equipment.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Maintain a herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as mandated by Wright Tree Service and applicable laws.
  • Possess valid First-Aid and CPR certifications.
