Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Worker to join our team at Heartland Human Care Services. As a Youth Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct care, supervision, and support to ensure the safety and well-being of the youth in our SAFEty program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to youth, helping them to modify attitudes and behaviors and achieve their goals.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of youth in the milieu during assigned shifts, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans, point and level systems, and behavior mentorship plans to support youth in achieving their goals.
  • Collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive support to youth, including transportation, education, and recreational activities.
  • Document and report incidents, progress, and challenges in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring that all necessary information is shared with supervisors and other relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with youth in a case work, human services, or related field.
  • Fluency in a second language may be required.
  • CPI and CPR Certification required.

Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and employees may be required to work in a variety of settings, including residential programs and community-based programs. The employee may be required to remain on Organization premises during breaks and/or meal periods and may be required to stay on Organization premises until their replacement arrives.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
