Key Responsibilities- Greets patients promptly and provides exceptional customer service.
- Collects and verifies patient demographic and insurance information with accuracy and timeliness.
- Searches the medical records system to ensure accurate patient identification and assignment of medical record numbers.
- Researches patient visit history to ensure compliance with Medicare's 72-hour rule.
- Completes Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaires as necessary and maintains accurate records.
- Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational materials to patients and families.
- Communicates with admitting physicians, nursing staff, and other personnel to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as required.
- Performs medical necessity checks and determines required payments or refers to financial counselors.
- Provides coverage to other areas of registration as needed.
