About the Role

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a skilled Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team in Liberty, SC. As a key member of our Cardiac Rhythm Management division, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, safety checks, repairs, installations, and modifications on production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment, including electrical and mechanical tasks.
  • Complete changes or modifications to production equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Purchase necessary items for inventory, spare parts, and emergency repairs, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Maintain a database for maintenance repairs, work orders, and inventory, ensuring efficient tracking and management.
  • Conduct daily tooling and equipment set-ups as required, ensuring optimal production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, including tear-downs, inspections, and rebuilds.
  • Recognize repair items that require outside service and arrange for repair, minimizing downtime and ensuring timely completion.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment and fixtures, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support 5S initiatives, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Train technicians in new and revised maintenance procedures, ensuring knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Complete CMMS work orders and preventive maintenance tasks on time, adhering to established schedules.
  • Respond to production down issues in a timely manner, communicating status to stakeholders and ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Issue parts to CMMS work orders and maintain an accurate inventory of critical spare parts, ensuring availability and minimizing delays.
  • Assist with production line moves, updating equipment records in CMMS and ensuring seamless transition.
  • Add assets and parts, create PM schedules, transfer assets, and set up users in CMMS, streamlining maintenance processes.
  • Coordinate maintenance plans and responses to complex and longer-term equipment repairs, ensuring optimal equipment performance.
  • Assign PM work orders to technicians, ensuring an even distribution of tasks and minimizing workload.
  • Support all Company initiatives, adhering to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments, maintaining positive and cooperative communications with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Technical Diploma - Two year technical vocational training and/or degree in machining tools required
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 4 years repairing production equipment, including molding presses, with knowledge of PLC, servo, and stepper controls, sensors, lasers, and injection molding
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Ability to travel (less than 5%), including internationally (only if required)
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position
