We are currently seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems. This role will involve close collaboration with our specialized engineering teams on energy-efficient projects across various sectors. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a solid technical foundation, dedicated to solving challenges and guiding projects through all phases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design plumbing systems, including piping and equipment selection for plumbing, pressurized gases, and fire protection systems.
  • Create detailed layouts and specifications for fire protection/sprinkler systems, encompassing fire pumps, mains, standpipes, flow controls, and sprinkler head arrangements.
  • Develop Life Safety, Fire Alarm, and Fire Suppression plans, along with necessary calculations, specifications, and project narratives for federal projects.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics accurately.
  • Generate electronic responses to inquiries and reviews.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, owners, and architects.
  • Guide junior engineers on implementing energy-efficient designs in various projects.
  • Review contractor submissions and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents and relevant codes.
  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques and calculations for equipment research, piping layout, and sizing.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to enhance operational procedures and resolve system deficiencies.
  • Analyze client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess feasibility, costs, and maintenance needs.
  • Specify system components or direct modifications to ensure adherence to engineering design and performance standards.
  • Build client relationships by providing feedback to design engineers regarding customer concerns and requirements.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of building life safety, fire, mechanical, and plumbing codes, including ICC Standards, NFPA Codes, and Federal Standards.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork at client locations.
  • Understanding of performance-based design requirements for life safety and fire protection systems.
  • Ability to oversee contractor activities during system testing and commissioning.

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
