Prepared Foods Order Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Prepared Foods Order Writer to join our team at Whole Foods Café. As a key member of our prepared foods team, you will be responsible for purchasing and replenishing food products, monitoring inventory control, and participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.
Key Responsibilities- Purchase and replenish food products through proper buying procedures, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits, maintaining accurate records and resolving issues promptly.
- Control spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, and participate in inventory management to optimize product availability and minimize waste.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required, maintaining accurate records and adhering to quality standards.
- Assist with counter service and cooking as scheduled or as necessary, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with the Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues, ensuring seamless operations and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors, negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery of products.
- Work with the Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader(s) to cost recipes, ensuring accurate pricing and profitability.
- Oversee customer special order procedure, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of customer requests.
- Support leadership in conducting inventories, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, ensuring optimal product availability and minimizing waste.
- Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work, working all scheduled shifts and attending required trainings and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and modeling suggestive selling techniques.
- Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product, ensuring optimal product availability and minimizing waste.
- Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, maintaining equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
- Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Immediately report safety hazards and violations, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
- Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends.
- Ability to create and negotiate price bids, ensuring optimal pricing and profitability.
- Familiarity and/or willingness to learn about products, nutritional information, and other areas of study, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product knowledge.
- Working knowledge and application of all Prepared Foods merchandising expectations, ensuring optimal product availability and minimizing waste.
- Complete understanding of WFM margin program and profitability, ensuring optimal pricing and profitability.
- Ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product knowledge among team members.
- Strong basic math skills, ensuring accurate calculations and record-keeping.
- Knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems, ensuring efficient and accurate record-keeping and communication.
- Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team, ensuring seamless operations and resolving any discrepancies.
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow team members, customers, and vendors, ensuring accurate and effective communication.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members, ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining a positive working environment.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures, effective time management and organization skills, ensuring efficient and accurate record-keeping and communication.

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
- Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products and services.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
- May require use of ladders, ensuring safe and efficient movement of products and equipment.
