Community Outreach Bus Coordinator

The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based organization dedicated to fostering human connections, providing housing assistance, and delivering healthcare services to individuals facing homelessness or economic hardship. Our core mission is to extend compassionate care and advocacy to those in need, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Joining our team offers you the chance to engage in meaningful work, cultivate relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and supporters, and positively impact the lives of those we assist.
Key Responsibilities:Ensure precise data entry in both internal and external databases.
Assist with preliminary vehicle maintenance checks.
Support bus visitors through motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies.
Provide referrals for social services and volunteer opportunities.
Collaborate with the health services team for counseling and testing initiatives.
Conduct assessments of community needs and remain informed about available resources.
Complete special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of experience in outreach work with the homeless population or a comparable background.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to navigate in all weather conditions.
- A general understanding of the communities served.
- Strong communication skills.
Nonessential Skills:
- A CDL Class B driving license or a willingness to obtain one.
- Proficiency in Spanish is encouraged.
$19 per hour
Additional Information:Physical Demands: The employee must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, and lifting/moving up to 20 pounds.
Benefits: Full-time staff members are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401k benefits after 30 days.
