We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at Asheville Medicine & Pediatrics. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist healthcare providers with patient exams, procedures, and treatments
- Take vital signs, record medical histories, and update patient records
- Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and treatments
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and other diagnostic tests
- Assist with daily acute care appointments and enter data into electronic medical records
- Triages patient calls, documents conversations, and provides instructions to patients and families
- Completes prior authorizations for prescriptions, imaging, and consults as needed
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office setting
- Experience with pediatric and adult patients
- Knowledge of basic medical assistant theory and practice
- Knowledge of laboratory, clerical, and treatment room procedures
- Ability to administer medications and vaccinations
- Ability to perform EKGs, PFTs, and pulse oximetry
- Ability to triage patient calls and provide instructions to patients and families
