We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Operations to lead our manufacturing operations at one of our sites. As a key member of our site leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering results, particularly in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Assume responsibility for all production activities across multiple production areas and accept accountability for delivering key performance goals/targets.
- Serve as an integral member of the site's leadership team and contribute to the development of the site's strategies and annual goals and objectives.
- Lead direct reports, including operations managers and individual performers, and ensure compliance to the established quality management system and all environmental, health, safety, and security protocols.
- Develop and execute sustained continuous improvement processes and define goals and objectives for direct reports with supporting key performance indicators (metrics in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity).
- Promote talent by developing individual growth and development plans and organizational succession plans.
- Manage by walking around, observing, and asking questions, and being an active listener.
- Model an open and inclusive communication style at daily production boards, weekly project update meetings, and monthly KPI board reviews and town hall meetings.
- Engage with associates at all levels and across all functions, finding time to join them for lunch, during breaks, and inviting them to diagonal slice meetings.
- Ensure one-on-one time with direct reports to monitor performance and check in on progress to individual development plans.
- Interact directly with customers, internal and external, and participate actively in customer business reviews and during site visits and audits.
- Partner with peers on the site leadership team, aligning on strategies, tactics, and actions needed to achieve the site's objectives.
- Collaborate with R&D and product development teams to prioritize operations' resources and support for new product launches aligned with the established product development process.
- Embed quality within the operations team, ensuring adherence to the quality management system, facilitating corrective and preventive actions, and contributing to the successful attainment of quality KPIs and the journey to 5 sigma.
- Accomplished track record in production environments with at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience.
- First-hand experience implementing and/or sustaining manufacturing excellence and lean practices.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic and direct management of people in fast-paced and complex manufacturing environments.
- Evidence of learning, retaining, and applying knowledge, with a willingness to consider relocation opportunities and rotational assignments.
- Mastery of problem-solving skills and critical thinking, with a calm demeanor and a well-developed skill set for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time and on budget.
- A positive, can-do attitude with an underlying belief that failure is not an option.
