Job Title: Clinician

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinician to join our team at the NYC Anti-Violence Project. As a Clinician, you will provide direct crisis support services, including individual and group counseling, advocacy, referrals, and accompaniment, as well as identity-affirming trauma-informed crisis support for our 24-hour English/Spanish hotline.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have experience providing direct clinical and advocacy services to survivors of violence and a working knowledge of mainstream intimate partner, domestic and sexual violence services systems, including community-based organizations and the civil and criminal legal system. A commitment to ending violence within and against LGBTQ+ and HIV-affected communities is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing services, including individual and/or group counseling, advocacy and accompaniment, follow-up contacts, information and referrals.
  • Assist clients in filing for NYS Office of Victims Services compensation.
  • Provide hotline coverage during office hours and back-up services to volunteer hotline counselors overnight and after-office hours.
  • Participate in the design, development, planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of support groups.
  • Coordinate with the Community Organizing and Public Advocacy (COPA) Department in conducting outreach, community education, and professional training around intersecting forms of violence within and against LGBTQ and HIV-affected communities across New York City.
  • Coordinate with AVP's Legal Department to provide clients with integrated social and legal services.
Requirements
  • MSW degree and be LMSW-eligible, or have a related degree and license.
  • Experience supporting people who identify as LGBTQ, people living with HIV, people of color, immigrants, low-income people, and survivors of violence.
  • Comfortable and confident working in a multi-disciplinary, direct service / crisis management setting.
  • Capacity to set effective boundaries and honor confidentiality.
What We Offer
  • Commitment to providing strong supervisory support and professional development opportunities for all staff.
  • Collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Opportunity to work in an organization that centers the work on those most impacted by violence, using a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive framework.
Benefits
  • Salary: $65,000.
  • Applicants who use more than one language at work are eligible to receive a $1,500 salary enhancement in addition to the base salary.
  • Full-time non-exempt hourly position with benefits, vacation, sick time and more.
