Job Overview

MWH Constructors, a leading global project delivery company, is seeking a seasoned Senior Construction Manager to join our construction management services (CMS) group in support of critical infrastructure projects in Northern California.

This pivotal role will oversee the appointed project staff and support service consultants to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications, as well as client expectations. The Senior Construction Manager will provide construction management on all project phases, from procurement through close-out, while assisting in new business development opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with clients, oversight representatives, regulatory agencies, etc., for business development and project execution.
  • Make decisions and recommendations to enhance corporate relationships with clients and profitability of managed projects.
  • Develop new business opportunities relative to specific clients, groups of clients, or geographical areas.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors to facilitate construction activities.
  • Ensure adherence to client, company, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc.
  • Complete project objectives and performance standards within client boundaries.
  • Provide oversight and direction for construction management, contract administration, planning/execution, contractor scheduling review, change order management, and quality assurance oversight.
  • Monitor and control projects to ensure timely completion and budget adherence.
  • Evaluate contractor cost proposals and develop preliminary estimates.
  • Coordinate and supervise activities of company and consultant personnel on assigned projects.
  • Authorize/approve purchase requisitions, change requests, etc., within signature authority.
  • Implement the company safety program, ensuring direct reporting employees follow safe work practices and use guidelines and policies for planning and executing work safely.
  • Attend industry networking events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience managing municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • 8+ years of management experience, including client interface, marketing, business development, project delivery, and staff supervision.
  • CCM or PMP certification required; consideration given to candidates willing to gain CCM or PMP within 12 months.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, union jurisdiction, labor agreements, and negotiations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to apply innovative management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Project P/L experience.

Salary and Benefits:

The anticipated base salary for this position is between $160,000 - $200,000/yr., based on experience. MWH Constructors offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and welfare benefits, paid time off, holidays, and 401(k) plan matching contributions up to 4%.
