Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Portfolio Manager to join our team at Midland States Bank. As a key member of our Commercial Lending team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial clients and loans, identifying credit risks, and making sound credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of commercial clients and loans, typically up to $10 million.
  • Business Development: Make regular business development calls to solicit new business or improve services to existing clients.
  • Cross-Selling: Generate new business through cross-selling activities with existing commercial client base.
  • Credit Analysis: Manage the credit process, identify risks and mitigants on new and renewed loans.
  • Customer Service: Provide customer service to existing commercial customers, including research or referrals to other departments of the bank.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist assigned Relationship Managers with clients, acting as part of a RM team and as a proxy when needed.
  • Documentation: Order appraisals, environmental documentation, or other complex documents needed for closing.
  • Analysis: Analyze simple credits and review thoroughly and understand formation documents for various entities.
  • Portfolio Maintenance: Oversee the routine maintenance and management of the subject portfolio, including the tickler system, financial reporting, and loan reviews.
  • Travel: Occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically to locations within the market as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting.
  • Experience: 1-3 years related experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, knowledge of commercial loan requirements and regulations, and understanding of all company loan systems for commercial lending.
  • Competencies: Business insight, cultivates innovation, drives results, makes sound decisions, being a brand champion, collaborates, communicates effectively, customer focus, being authentic, emotional intelligence, self-development, and being flexible and adaptable.
