Job Title: Vice President of Research Development

Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Research Development to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in advancing our research mission and securing funding to support our scientific endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement research funding strategies to maximize support from government, corporate, and philanthropic sources.
  • Provide strategic guidance to faculty and researchers on grant portfolio mix and proposal development.
  • Oversee the management of awarded projects, including budget and risk management, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Supervise a team of research development professionals, grant writers, and project managers.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in research development, grant writing, or science foundation work in a biomedical research environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with faculty, executive management, and external contacts.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary range of $190,000 - $250,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
