Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral fellow to join our research team at the University of New Mexico. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular/cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, or a related field.

Research Focus

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for developing and executing a project related to the current and future interests of the lab, as determined by discussions with Dr. Syed. The research program focuses on the developmental molecular mechanisms regulating the formation of the Drosophila central complex neural cell types.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a research project related to the lab's current and future interests
  • Conduct experiments using cutting-edge tools for genetics, lineage analysis, immunohistochemistry, imaging, genomics, and gene editing
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals
  • Present research findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in molecular/cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience using molecular techniques for cloning and analysis of nucleic acids and proteins
  • Experience using immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization for analyses of gene expression
  • Knowledge of cell biology and microscopy
