We are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Neutrino Physics Group at the University of New Mexico. The successful candidate will work on the LEGEND neutrino-less double-beta decay experiment, focusing on the development of the LEGEND-1000 liquid argon active veto.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and development on the LEGEND-1000 experiment, with a focus on xenon-doping techniques.
- Collaborate with the LANL LEGEND group to build an improved test stand at UNM.
- Play a leading role in the commissioning, operation, and data analysis of the LEGEND-200 experiment.
- Contribute to the development of cryogenic components for LEGEND-1000.
- Ph.D. in experimental physics at the time of hire.
- Demonstrated abilities in experimental techniques of nuclear/particle physics and data-analysis.
- Strong computing skills with competence in C++ and Python languages and a working knowledge of the GEANT4 simulation package.
- Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of neutrino-less double beta-decay physics and low-background techniques.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
