Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Facility Operator to join our team at the City of Winston-Salem, NC. As a key member of our Utilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating water treatment equipment to provide clean water to our citizens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the treatment plant and associated facilities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Perform laboratory analysis and testing to ensure the quality of treated water.
  • Regulate and adjust treatment processes to meet changing operating conditions.
  • Record and maintain accurate records of treatment plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance and repair strategies to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid certification from the State Board of Certification of Water Treatment Facility Operator at Grade A or B level required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
