Position Summary:

At Vail Resorts, we prioritize service, and our Ski Patrol team plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. The Ski Patrol is dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of both staff and guests on the mountain, demonstrating vigilance and reliability while remaining composed during emergencies.

Position Specifications:

  • Expected Compensation: $23.26 per hour
  • Availability: Part-Time; Weekends and Holidays
  • Skill Level: Expert
    • Required Certifications: WFR; EMT; OEC
    • Expert Level Skiing or Snowboarding Skills
  • Additional Requirements: Patrol members must perform various tasks across diverse terrains and weather conditions. Candidates must successfully complete an expert-level ski patrol assessment upon hiring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure guest safety across varied terrains and changing winter weather.
  • Assist injured or ill guests on the mountain and provide first aid.
  • Safely transport injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or assist with airlift operations.
  • Maintain trails by identifying hazards and implementing closures and safety measures.
  • Transport supplies and equipment to necessary locations using skis or snowboards.
  • Conduct end-of-day procedures to guarantee all guests are safely off the mountain.
  • Enforce the Skier Responsibility Code and Resort Policies.
  • Manage chairlift and guest evacuation processes.
  • Act as an ambassador for My Epic, offering helpful guidance and support to guests in need, and being knowledgeable about additional resources available to them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Pass the resort's Ski Patrol-sponsored ski assessment.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Exceptional guest service skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions in a high-altitude environment.
  • Manual dexterity to operate necessary equipment; must possess sufficient sight, speech, and hearing abilities to learn skills and follow directions.

The anticipated pay range is $23.26 per hour. This reflects the compensation we expect for this role, with individual decisions based on various factors.
