The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional nursing services in clinics, homes, and communities to ensure effective health promotion and disease prevention services.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assess patients' health histories to identify any health issues that may make vaccination unsafe.
* Provide information regarding vaccines to patients, parents, and other healthcare providers.
* Administer vaccines according to established guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
* Record information about each patient's vaccination history in a chart or database.
* Educate patients about the risks and benefits of vaccines and other methods of disease prevention.
* Coordinate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, social workers, and pediatricians.
* Maintain accurate records of patient visits and vaccinations.
* Schedule appointments and keep track of patient records to ensure that patients receive the appropriate immunizations on time.
* Inventory management and transport of vaccine(s) and maintaining the cold chain
* Proper biohazardous waste transport and disposal
* Maintains appropriate infection control standards and precautions
* Supporting DCHD's Communicable Disease team in disease investigation surveillance, including following up on reports of illnesses with patients, laboratories, and health professionals following state protocols.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing (BSN)
* Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN), issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
* Community or Public Health experience
* Current CPR / First Aid certification
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Pediatric experience a plus
* Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check
* Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide range of persons
* Ability to maintain and handle confidential information
* Ability to follow protocol, procedures, and established guidelines
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances and needs
* A strong work ethic and ability to manage a demanding and changing workload

Note: The selected candidate will be required to obtain, at their own expense, 3 forms of clearance, including PA State Police Criminal History Record Check; PA Child Abuse History; and FBI Criminal History Background Check including finger printing prior to employment.

Delaware County requires all DCHD employees be up to date for their COVID-19 vaccination. Proof of vaccination must be submitted before a candidate's start date if hired.
