We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to serve as a liaison between the Delaware County Health Department and local schools. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the county's Vaccine for Children (VFC) program and providing consultation on issues related to reportable diseases and school health concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in managing the county's immunization service delivery and develop training programs for school nurses and administrators.
- Provide consultation and professional development to school health personnel, parents, and guardians on school health and nursing issues.
- Ensure adherence to requirements for mandated vaccines and promote infectious disease control and safety.
- Analyze school health records and reports to develop and modify health programs to meet the needs of school communities.
- Collaborate with local schools and childcare centers to identify needs, gaps, and priorities related to school health and early childhood.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus a Nursing degree (BSN preferred).
- Active and unencumbered PA Nurse License (RN preferred).
- Knowledge of Childhood Immunizations and VFC Program.
- Healthcare provider CPR certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in public health nursing and school health services.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess health issues, develop intervention plans, and address complex health concerns within the school environment.
The selected candidate will work in an office setting and visit various fieldwork locations. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check are required.
Delaware County requires all DCHD employees to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination. Proof of vaccination must be submitted before a candidate's start date if hired.
