The primary responsibility of the Assistant Teacher is to ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of the children in our care. You will play a vital role in implementing engaging curriculum activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development in a nurturing setting. This is a full-time, year-round opportunity.

The Madison Area YMCA offers a unique environment, featuring a spacious facility equipped with a gym, nutritious meals, and multiple playgrounds designed for various age groups.

Qualifications:

  • CDA certification preferred or 9+ ECE credits, though not mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a daycare or educational setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience with infants is a plus, though not required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire, with training provided.

Working Environment:

  • Ability to remain active, including walking, standing, and sitting on the floor for extended periods.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Capability to lift and assist children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills are essential.
  • Visual and auditory abilities to respond to emergencies and administer first aid when necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to varying outdoor temperatures.
