Museum Security Officer Job Description

The Amherst College Museums are seeking a part-time Museum Security Officer to ensure a safe and secure environment for visitors, staff, and collections. This casual position requires a strong commitment to customer service and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of public areas, staff areas, collections storage, and mechanical spaces
• Provide exemplary customer service and represent the museums and the college
• Ensure policies, procedures, and mission of the department are adhered to and upheld at all times
• Participate in special event management and monitoring, ensuring occupancy limitations are not exceeded and all aspects of the event are adhered to

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, time management, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Proficiency with Gmail and ability to use and learn other software
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and lift test

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Administration, or Emergency Management, or accredited Law Enforcement or Professional Security Officer Certification
• 6 months of experience in private security and/or law enforcement or a similar field
