Job Summary

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Job Description

We are looking for a Respiratory Therapist to work in a critical care environment, providing advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions and managing basic mechanical ventilation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory care and be certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Responsibilities
  • Administer advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions, including heliox, nitric oxide, and chest wall oscillation.
  • Establish and manage basic mechanical ventilation with high proficiency and minimal supervision.
  • Perform weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.
  • Review the need for continuing ventilator support and develop or refine ventilator care plans.
  • Formulate a plan of care for patients based on diagnostic data, response to therapy, and physiologic profiles.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
  • Six months in a critical care environment or one or more years of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care or more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • Basic Life Support from AHA upon start.
  • Advanced Certifications (ACLS, PALS or NRP) must be obtained within one year from date of hire.
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
