Position Overview:

This role entails providing critical support during the assembly, integration, and testing of Space payloads, contributing to comprehensive Space Vehicle Testing for customer-funded initiatives within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) division of L3Harris Technologies. The position encompasses the test and integration activities for the development of Space mission payloads from the inception of the program through to test verification, including subcontractor collaboration.

The Integration & Test Specialist will devise intricate testing strategies to validate payload functionalities while collaborating with a diverse team that includes various internal departments and subcontractors for the complete integration and testing of the Space Vehicle system. This engineer will serve as the primary liaison for government clients regarding test and integration planning, coordinating with government and stakeholder offices to establish the test and evaluation framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate comprehensive system test documentation (including Test Requirements Documents, Test Design Documents, and Test Procedures) and guide support personnel in executing daily system test and integration readiness tasks for Space Payloads and/or Space Vehicles.
  • Provide support across all phases of the system Life-Cycle (design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, verification/validation, and delivery) for Space Payloads and Space Vehicle Systems.
  • Manage medium to complex project initiatives of strategic significance to the organization, involving extensive cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in RF measurements and testing, utilizing tools and test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, Signal Generators, O-Scopes, and RF Test Equipment.
  • Assist in setting up specific test configurations, developing test procedures, implementing, and verifying Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), as well as evaluating test set software and analysis tools as necessary.
  • Support the testing efforts for laboratory setups and the development of ground-based missions from program inception to test verification and deployment.
  • Contribute to the root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective action processes as required.
  • Travel as necessary for post-delivery support and integration activities.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours, including weekends, during the Integration & Testing phases of the program.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Engineering field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in aerospace/defense systems, specifically with space payloads, spacecraft bus, and space vehicle integration involving End-to-End Testing.
  • Possession of a Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in executing hardware verification testing for space vehicles at acceptance, proto-flight, and qualification levels across all relevant environments (vibration, thermal, vacuum, acoustics).
  • Familiarity with Space Vehicle Bus testing.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary technical teams (mechanical, structural, thermal, power, RF, Antenna, electrical, Systems) throughout all program phases (initial concept, proposals, SRR, PDR/CDR, I&T, final sell-off).
  • Proficiency in integrating, testing, and verifying small sub-assemblies into larger, complex systems, with subsequent integration onto a host spacecraft composed of numerous independent payloads and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of Cosmos, Ruby, InControl, or other Satellite/Telemetry Tracking & Control (TT&C) scripting languages.
  • Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, Perl, PuTTy, MobaXTerm, Visual Studio Code).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment.
  • Experience with requirements derivation and tracking using DOORs (or equivalent), including requirements verification traceability matrix (RVTM).
  • Background in executing government or commercial, firm-fixed price development programs for space.
